Grizzlies Stumble, Lose 2-1 to Stripers
|
Coolray Field was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
Peyton Monroe pitched a gem to lead Gwinnett to victory over the Maine Grizzlies, 2-1. Gwinnett is now 31-32, Maine 34-29.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Stripers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fourth, when third baseman Jason Gustafson hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Leonard Denison and made the score 1-0, Stripers. Gustafson went 1 for 4.
"Tough loss," said Maine manager Brian O'Kray. "Tough one to swallow."
