5-3 Loss Deepens Pawtucket Funk
|
The Newark Bears overcame a pretty good performance by Pawtucket second baseman Joaquin Scharpf, beating the Red Sox, 5-3, at McCoy Stadium. Scharpf was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs. Wayne Corrie earned save number 8 this season. The losses continue to mount for Pawtucket, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Chase Judge? The Newark left fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Bears on top, 2-0. For the game, Judge had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We're not exactly playing great right now," said Daniel Holcombe, the Pawtucket manager.
