Benfer, Mud Hens Notch Nifty 3-0 Win Over Newark
|
Toledo took on Newark in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Rick Benfer, in particular, was fantastic. The Toledo right-hander helped his team snag the win, 3-0. Getting the save was Theodore Conrad, his 12th. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for the Mud Hens.
Benfer was the winning pitcher. He raised his season record to 5-5. In 8 innings of work, Benfer gave up no runs on 2 hits, while striking out 5. The Bears were never able to generate much offense.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Toledo skipper Peter Carter.
