Barons Edge Bears, 2-1
|
Newark got a big-time effort from pitcher Joshua Wathen, but it wasn't enough to keep the Wilkes-Barre Barons from winning the game, 2-1. Wathen threw 9.0 innings of 6-hit ball for the losing team. The Barons improve their record to 37-36 with the win over Newark.
The Barons procured the win, in large part because of third baseman Oliver Sierra. In the bottom of the 11th, he produced the game-winning run-scoring double.
Sierra described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game.
