Wilkes-Barre starter Pierce Finlay put the Columbus offense in a vise grip. The right-hander relied heavily on his sinker in leading the Barons to a 5-0 win. After today's action, Wilkes-Barre sits at 34-46, while Columbus falls to 44-36.

It could have been a different outcome for Wilkes-Barre, had it not been for Oliver Guerera, the 25-year old first baseman . Guerera contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Wilkes-Barre up, 2-0.

"Pierce gains confidence in the confidence we have in him," said Wilkes-Barre manager Hector Vidal.
