Charlotte rode a fine outing from starter Gus Santoyo to victory over the Newark Bears at Hustlers Stadium. The final score was 1-0. The win belongs to Vito Lara in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Joshua Wathen took the loss for Newark. Darrell Bruen earned the save, his 18th, for the Knights.
Charlotte took a 1-0 lead on Daniel Kasse's 7th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Newark pitcher Joshua Wathen in the bottom of the seventh.
