Bears Lose Contest, 9-4
Good production from catcher Strom Odom helped the Wilkes-Barre Barons topple the Newark Bears, 9-4. Odom was 2 for 3 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Barons. Robert Lacoste picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 5. On the season, he is now 7-0. Alan Welsh sewed up the save, his 4th.

With Wilkes-Barre trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Odom hit a cutter from Ty Marquard for a 3-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Barons ahead, 3-1.

"Strom was ready to go. Big day for him," said Wilkes-Barre manager Jon Moody.

The Barons saw their win-loss record go to 46-42. At the same time, the Bears fell to 29-59.
