The Newark Bears topped the Norfolk Tides, 9-1, in International League action at Harbor Park. The standout performance belonged to Newark pitcher and Pinckney, Michigan, native Curt Peterson. At 35-52, Newark is in last place in the International League Northeast Division.

Making an impact for Newark was right fielder Jack Rainey. He drilled a double off Dimitri Sotolongo in the top of the third. For the game, Rainey went 4-6 with a double and 3 singles.
