Barons Earn 4-3 Win Versus Grizzlies
|
The Birmingham Barons did just enough to sneak past the Maine Grizzlies, 4-3, at Raley Field. Birmingham pitcher Alex Felton, in particular, had a standout performance. Cesar Moreno, now 2-2, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit, while striking out 2 and walking 1. Wilder Macaya closed it out for Birmingham, earning his 24th save.
Had Mohamed Coleman not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Coleman hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Barons.
Birmingham manager Steve Anderson said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
The Barons raised their record to 46-41.
