Stripers Rack Up 5-0 Win Versus Orlando
|
The Gwinnett Stripers reigned over the Orlando Wizards in damp conditions.
Gwinnett Stripers starter Ross Allen turned in an exceptional performance against the Orlando Wizards at Orlando Grounds, resulting in a Gwinnett win, 5-0. Allen, now 2-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 3, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Lydon Yunker picked up his 1st save of the season.
Gwinnett took a 5-0 lead on Ricart Peña's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Peña hit in the top of the ninth, left Orlando pitcher P.J. Fernandes visibly frustrated.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Peña. "Just do my job."
The Stripers are now 42-46.
