Birmingham Crafts 4-2 Win
|
The Birmingham Barons beat the Syracuse Chiefs, 4-2, at Victory Field. Birmingham catcher Smokin' Jay Blade led the way. He was 2 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Picking up the save was Wilder Macaya. He's now 3 for 3 in save chances. The win elevated the Barons to 49-40.
Birmingham used the timely hitting of Gavin Simpson to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Barons on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I keep on showing up every day and trying to put up good at-bats and find good pitches to hit," said Blade.
