Late Magic Gets Columbus 5-3 Win
|
The Toledo Mud Hens got a superb performance from pitcher Dylan Elkins, but the Columbus Clippers still won the game, 5-3. Elkins threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. Columbus reliever Rich Baxter was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Braxton Vaughn. Picking up the save was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Dominic Vollmer.
Columbus took a 5-3 lead on Dylan Espino's 11th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Espino hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Toledo pitcher Braxton Vaughn visibly frustrated.
"We scored more than enough runs this time," said Columbus manager Jeremy Adkins. "Now watch. The next game we'll probably struggle to get a base hit."
The last-place Mud Hens now sit at 32-68.
