Buffalo Bisons pitcher Randy Carreras was in fine form, leading his team past the Maine Grizzlies, 3-1. Ira Sharp recorded his 9th save for Buffalo. Buffalo, at 63-36, occupies second place in the International League Northeast Division.

Ewing Lekota had a big solo home run for the Bisons in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Buffalo leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he got a slider from 31-year old right-handed pitcher C.J. Cole and swatted a home run to center. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bisons ahead, 3-1.

Buffalo manager Rich Hernandez commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
