Barons Get Defeated by Red Sox, 4-2
|
Pawtucket Red Sox starter Owen Holiday hurled his team past the Birmingham Barons, 4-2. Holiday, now 12-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Jimmy Ge closed the game out for Pawtucket, earning his 1st save.
J.R. Earl, the 27-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Earl contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Pawtucket up, 2-0.
"I thought we played a nice game," Earl told the Pawtucket Bulletin. "Good pitching, timely hitting, it was all there."
The 4th-place Red Sox lifted their record to 55-50.
