Ottawa Coasts to 11-1 Win
|
Ottawa starter Justin Ayer kept the Louisville offense in check, while his team rolled to a win, 11-1. Ayer, now 12-4, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The Oddballs, at 62-51, sit in third place in the International League Northeast Division.
The Oddballs got a big hit from right fielder Jimmy Miramontes. Facing Louisville pitcher Leonard Thomas in the top of the eighth, Miramontes pounded a grand slam home run to right. His 9th home run of the season put the Oddballs ahead, 11-1.
"Justin's as tough as he is talented," said Ottawa manager Jorge Castillo.
