Shaw Propels Engineers to 8-2 Win
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 24-year old first baseman Bob Shaw, the Shreveport Engineers stopped the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, 8-2, in 9 innings. The first-place Engineers hiked their record to 64-39.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Greg Spells? The Shreveport second baseman had a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Engineers on top, 5-2. For the game, Spells had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
Shreveport manager Kip Fors commended his team for "putting the pedal to the metal."
