Barons Lasso 2-0 Victory
|
In a tight tilt between the Birmingham Barons and the Maine Grizzlies, Calisto Montez was the deciding factor. The Birmingham right-hander spearheaded the 2-0 win. Montez yielded no runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 0, and struck out 4. His record improves to 4-3. The save was credited to Motoyuki Matsui, his 1st.
Jayden Brady had a direct impact on the outcome. Brady contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Birmingham up, 1-0.
"It was a hard game, a hard night," said Maine skipper Ramon Guerrero.
The third-place Barons now sit at 68-57.
