Great Stroke: Fuchs Gets 5 Hits
|
Birmingham Barons third baseman Barklay Fuchs had a day to remember at Victory Field today, ripping apart the Syracuse Chiefs and sparking the Barons to a 4-3 victory.
Fuchs wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5.
"I'm usually a first ball hitter," Fuchs told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it."
Barklay Fuchs singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 8th, hit a two-run single in the 9th and singled in the 12th.
Currently Fuchs is batting .409 with 52 hits and 3 home runs. He has knocked in 26 runs and scored 13 times.
