Cesar Mendoza never let the Express get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Baby Cakes to a win, 4-1. With the win, New Orleans lifts its record to 5-6.

C.J. Perna had a direct impact on the outcome. Perna contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the fourth inning to put New Orleans up, 3-1.

"You have to trust that what you're doing is going to produce results," said Mendoza.
