Wayne Kapp, who is tied for 6th in the PCL with a 8.6 K/9 rate, had a strong outing for the Tacoma Rainiers against the Sacramento River Cats at Cheney Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 5-1 win. The winner was Kapp. He threw 7.1 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was José Ricardo. The Rainiers improved to 12-20.

The Rainiers got a big at-bat from first baseman Cody Provost. For the game, Provost went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Tacoma a 2-0 lead.
