Tacoma third baseman Kevin Searcy had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Searcy belted 2 home runs, even as Inland Empire beat the Rainiers, 4-3. Zenaido Mejia earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. Igor Cobos picked up the save for Inland Empire, his 8th of the year.

Inland Empire used the hitting of Luke Gunderson to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the 66ers on top, 4-0. For the game, Gunderson had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

Gunderson expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
