The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

The Round Rock Express weathered an outstanding game by El Paso designated hitter Timo Mestaz to topple the Chihuahuas, 6-5. Mestaz went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Earning his 4th save of the year was Mancelo Gil.

Had Roman De Gama not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, De Gama hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Express.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said El Paso manager Kelly Ury. "But we decided not to take it."

The Express now have a record of 21-12.
