Baby Cakes Take Down HarbourCats, 4-3
|
The New Orleans Baby Cakes faced a tough opponent in Victoria pitcher Sean Alletto, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Security Service Field by a final score of 4-3. Alletto went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Noah Bruce earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. His record is now 3-1. Shane Moore collected save number 8.
New Orleans used the timely hitting of Derek Black to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Baby Cakes on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Glad to get this win," said Black. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
With the victory, the Baby Cakes record stands at 16-23.
