Aces Get Past Sacramento, 5-4
|
The Reno Aces picked up a win at Blues Stadium, knocking off the Sacramento River Cats, 5-4. Starting pitcher Matt Willard played a key role in the triumph. Silvino Osorio got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed 3 runs on 5 hits in 2 innings. The win elevated the Aces to 24-16.
Elwyn Katiyo was the walk-off hero for Reno. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Aces first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"Matt was really attacking guys' weaknesses and he didn't leave a lot of balls over the plate," said Reno field general Chris Footer.
