Chihuahuas Snag 6-4 Win
|
The El Paso Chihuahuas faced a tough opponent in Inland Empire pitcher Mason Napier, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Southwest University park by a final score of 6-4. Napier went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. Robert Lacoste earned save number 4 this season. El Paso is in first place in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Division with a record of 25-14.
Had Timo Mestaz not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Mestaz hit a 2-run single. That made the score 6-4, in favor of the Chihuahuas.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Mestaz. "And not try to do too much."
