Goldeyes Curb ThunderSharks, 1-0
|
Richie Wahl pitched well, but his team, the Honolulu ThunderSharks, still dropped a 1-0 decision to the Winnipeg Goldeyes at NBT Bank Stadium. Winnipeg reliever Oneil Smith picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Richie Wahl was saddled with the loss. The win puts the Goldeyes at 20-17, while the ThunderSharks drop to 21-16.
The Goldeyes got a big at-bat from third baseman David Atkinson. For the game, Atkinson was 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the sixth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 9th home run of the season gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead.
"That's baseball," said Honolulu manager Jimmy Anderson. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
