The Iowa Cubs saddled the Omaha Storm Chasers with a loss at Werner Park. The final score was 6-4. Connor Herrick was 2 for 4, including 1 single and 1 home run. The Iowa catcher scored 2 runs and drove in 1. Camden Lightfoot picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Dan Jay was tagged with the loss. Iowa goes to 36-21, Omaha to 24-33.
Iowa used a well-timed hit by Trent Wheeler to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cubs ahead, 3-1. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Wheeler, cracking a smile.
