66ers Knock Off Baby Cakes, 5-4
|
The Inland Empire 66ers turned back the New Orleans Baby Cakes, 5-4, at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Matt Weber, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 2 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 4 runs. Jeremy Bagby, now 2-2, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. Nick Thompson converted his 14th save in 16 tries.
Weber had a timely hit for Inland Empire in the bottom of the seventh. With New Orleans trailing 4-2, he turned a 1-1 changeup into a bases-clearing triple. It was his 4th triple of the season, making it 5-4, Inland Empire.
"We'll grab a barley pop and savor this win," said Weber.
The 66ers move to 32-29 with the win, while the Baby Cakes drop to 36-25.
