Aces Win Pitchers' Duel, 2-0, Versus Baby Cakes
|
In a tight contest between the Reno Aces and the New Orleans Baby Cakes, Tom Farinella was the determining factor. The Reno left-hander sparkled in his team's 2-0 win. The winning pitcher was Farinella, now 2-2. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 5. The triumph puts Reno at 36-31 for the season.
The Aces got a big at-bat from third baseman Nathaniel Nyland. For the game, Nyland went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Reno a 2-0 lead.
Farinella said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
