Torres, Rainiers Get Tidy 1-0 Win Over El Paso
|
In a tension-filled contest between the Tacoma Rainiers and the El Paso Chihuahuas, pitcher R.J. Torres was superb. The Tacoma right-hander, who is tied for 4th in the PCL with a 1.13 WHIP, spearheaded his team's 1-0 win. Walt Kozlowski recorded the save, his 4th. With the win, Tacoma goes to 45-20, while the Chihuahuas fall to 29-36.
Torres was in the zone all game. He frustrated El Paso hitters while giving the Rainiers 7 innings of quality work. Torres threw 94 pitches, allowing 3 hits and getting 8 punchouts.
"I was able to really locate my pitches tonight," said Torres.
