Sidewinders Score 3-1 Win Over Omaha
|
The bats were silent much of the day at Werner Park. But 27-year old second baseman Ignacio Landeros produced just enough offense to carry the Sidewinders past the Omaha Storm Chasers, 3-1. Landeros went 4-5 with a triple and 3 singles. Tucson currently is in first place in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Division at 38-31.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, Kent Paskel was at the plate when Tucson scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Sidewinders to go in front, 1-0.
In postgame remarks, Landeros hailed his team's "single-minded determination."
