Baby Cakes Beat Sounds, 6-5
|
The New Orleans Baby Cakes did just enough to sneak past the Nashville Sounds, 6-5, at Zephyr Field. New Orleans pitcher Herman Marin, in particular, had a standout performance. The Baby Cakes raised their record to 26-44.
Tied up with the Sounds in the bottom of the fifth inning, the Baby Cakes got a boost from catcher Donald Fleming. With the bases loaded, Fleming saw a 1-1 changeup from Vincente Aldana and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put New Orleans on top, 3-1.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Marin. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
