Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Aces
|
The Reno Aces topped the Edmonton Edge, 4-3, in Pacific Coast League action at Field of the Edge. The standout performance belonged to Reno pitcher and Beaverton, Oregon, native Lamarr Johnson. Roberto Sánchez picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-0. Vince Assem was tagged with the loss. Mancio Soto was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 16 save opportunities.
Reno used the timely hitting of Hudson Donlin to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Aces on top, 3-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Edmonton manager Nick Hiles, "let me know."
The last-place Aces go to 30-42.
