Triplets Win, 1-0, Extend Streak to 4 Games
|
New Orleans got a terrific performance from pitcher Gavrie Park, but it wasn't enough to beat the Evansville Triplets. Evansville won the BB&T Stadium contest, 1-0. Park threw 8.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. Carson Doran, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2062 draft, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed no runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Urshulon Passial got credit for the save for Evansville. It was his 3rd of the year.
The Triplets got a big boost from first baseman Ronnie Santos who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning off Baby Cakes hurler Gavrie Park. It was his 11th RBI of the season and put Evansville on top, 1-0.
Said New Orleans manager Bobby Gomez: "They pitched the heck out of us."
Evansville, at 48-25, is 9½ games up in the Pacific Coast League American Divison.
