Iowa got a strong outing from Johnny Lawson as the Cubs defeated the Round Rock Express, 6-2, at Dell Diamond. Lawson, the winner, moves to 3-3. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 2 walks. Iowa, at 30-44, occupies 7th place in the Pacific Coast League American Divison.

Noah Hawkins had a big 2-run home run for the Cubs in the top of the fifth inning. With Iowa leading 4-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Gage Langs and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Cubs on top, 6-2.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Hawkins told a Iowa Herald reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
