Chihuahuas Beat New Orleans, 3-2
|
The El Paso Chihuahuas trumped the New Orleans Baby Cakes, 3-2, at Zephyr Field. El Paso first baseman Ryker Eudy was terrific. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Frank McCoy, credited with the win, is now 3-4. He allowed no runs on no hits. Damen Page got the save, the 1st for him this season.
Eudy had a timely hit for El Paso in the top of the eighth. With New Orleans trailing 2-1, he turned a 1-1 fastball into a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 3-2, El Paso.
"That's baseball," said New Orleans manager Joe Gillilan. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
New Orleans has now lost 4 straight.
