Sidewinders Drop Contest, 4-1, to Reno
|
The Tucson Sidewinders could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Kevin Walker into a win. Instead, the Reno Aces prevailed, 4-1. Walker threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The winner was Silvino Osorio in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Toby Barker took the loss. Reno's record now stands at 39-40, placing them 6th in the Pacific Coast League Pacific Division.
Had Hugo Hardison not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Hardison hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Aces.
"Watch and learn," said Hardison. "This is what good pitching looks like."
