Marshall Excels, But Rainiers Win
|
The Tacoma Rainiers and Nashville Sounds obliged fans looking for a good time.
The Tacoma Rainiers spoiled a good performance by Nashville left fielder Merlin Marshall, bumping off Nashville, 6-5, at Cheney Stadium. Marshall belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Karson Lenz, the winner, improved to 5-2. He held Nashville to 3 runs on 4 hits over 5.1 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts.
R.J. Aragaki, who is tied for 5th in the PCL in home runs with 16, chipped in a 2-run home run for Tacoma in the bottom of the first. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Tacoma manager Danny Jennings.
