66ers Pull Out Late Win, 5-4
|
The Inland Empire 66ers defeated the Victoria HarbourCats, 5-4, at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Mateo Matos was one of the standouts for Inland Empire. His 3 hits included 2 singles and 1 triple -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 1 he knocked in. Inland Empire reliever Justin Hulin picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Whizzer Raba took the loss. Zach Casley earned the save for Inland Empire, his 3rd.
Had Dakota McIntosh not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, McIntosh hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the 66ers.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Victoria manager Ricky Ugalde.
The 66ers move to 48-38 with the win, while the HarbourCats drop to 40-46.
