The Evansville Triplets got a stellar performance from pitcher Ben Paulsen, who handcuffed the Tacoma offense en route to a win, 5-2, at Cheney Stadium. The 6th-place Triplets improved to 40-47.

Evansville used the timely hitting of Erwin Strandlund to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Triplets on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

Strandlund told a Evansville Times reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
