River Cats Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
The Sacramento River Cats downed the Evansville Triplets, 1-0, at BB&T Stadium. Sacramento pitcher Marc Gagnon definitely brought his A-game. Wayne Jones claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record stands at 2-2. Aiden McVey recorded his 9th save for Sacramento.
In the top of the fourth, with the game still scoreless, Gagnon hit a run-scoring double to put his team in the lead.
In postgame remarks, Gagnon applauded his team's "toughness."
With the win, the River Cats have a record of 57-36.
