Cubs Beat Express, 6-2
|
Iowa pitcher Theodore Green did his part in helping his team beat the Round Rock Express, 6-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Their 63-35 record puts the Cubs first in the Pacific Coast League American Divison.
Colton MacNeil had a big grand slam home run for the Cubs in the bottom of the third inning. With Iowa leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he sized up a curveball from 24-year old right-handed pitcher Rutledge Venable and punished it. The result was his 17th home run of the season, which put the Cubs on top, 6-0.
"I loved our energy," said Iowa manager Tony Osorio. "I loved the way we played."
