Baby Cakes Lose 3-2 Decision to Inland Empire
|
Inland Empire pitcher Thad Madden did his part in helping his team beat the New Orleans Baby Cakes, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Simon Damstra claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 6-3. The defeat makes New Orleans 41-57.
Inland Empire used a timely hit from Lewis Summerville to get the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the 66ers ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.
"The fact of the matter is that we had a shot to win," said losing manager Bobby Gomez.
