Jumbo Shrimp Clipped, 2-1
|
The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp got a superb performance from pitcher Erwin Maida. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Arkansas. The Travelers won the game, 2-1. Maida threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Ray Wagner notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record now sits at 2-2. Jesse Giove recorded the save for Arkansas, his 8th of the season.
Spike Clark had a direct impact on the outcome. Clark contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the tenth inning to put Arkansas up, 2-1.
"Our guys refused to lose," said Clark.
The Travelers move to 72-33 with the win, while the Jumbo Shrimp drop to 44-61.
