Baby Cakes Deal Triplets 5-1 Loss
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the New Orleans Baby Cakes and Evansville Triplets.
The New Orleans Baby Cakes polished off the Evansville Triplets by the score of 5-1. The largest share of the credit belonged to third baseman C.J. Furgeson. Furgeson went 2-5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Baby Cakes. New Orleans reliever Samuel Allen got the win, raising his record to 4-4. Ryan Jacobs was tagged with the loss.
The Baby Cakes got a big at-bat from designated hitter Dodo Vaughn. For the game, Vaughn went 1 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. In the top of the first, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 3rd home run of the season gave New Orleans a 1-0 lead.
"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Furgeson told the New Orleans Bulletin.
The defeat makes Evansville 68-54.
