Turner Hits Two Homers in 10-5 Win for Iowa
|
The Iowa Cubs cut down the Nashville Sounds by the score of 10-5, with the largest share of the credit going to designated hitter Tom Turner. Turner was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while scoring 4 runs and driving in 2 for the Cubs. Iowa reliever Connor Newsome picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ted Ballejos took the loss. The Cubs sit in 7th place in the Pacific Coast League American Divison with a record of 56-70.
Iowa used the hitting of Enrico Williams to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cubs on top, 6-1. For the game, Williams had 1 home run and 2 singles in 4 at-bats.
"At the end of the day, wins and losses are really the only thing that matters," said Turner.
