Samuel Heck, who is tied for 4th in the PCL in strikeouts with 115, pitched well, but the Nashville Sounds still fell short, losing, 3-1, to the Inland Empire 66ers at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. The winner in relief was Nathan Sanderson. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. He now owns a record of 5-2. Wilbert Newell closed the game out for Inland Empire, earning his 9th save.
Inland Empire took a 2-1 lead on Pablo Alonzo's 1st triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Alonzo hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Nashville pitcher Samuel Heck visibly frustrated.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Alonzo.
The win puts the 66ers at 68-63, while the Sounds drop to 63-68.
