Sidewinders Get Clutch 7-6 Win
|
The Tucson Sidewinders outlasted the Evansville Triplets, 7-6, in 11 innings. Tucson shortstop Newton Veatch stood out with his performance. He went 4-5 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2. Oliver Nickel picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 8-5. Matt Holmes suffered the loss. Tucson has run its win streak to 4 consecutive.
In the bottom of the 11th, with the score tied, Veatch hammered a solo home run to win it for Tucson.
"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Veatch told the Tucson Today.
