River Cats Deal Winnipeg 7-0 Defeat
|
The Sacramento River Cats downed the Winnipeg Goldeyes, 7-0, at River Cats Ballpark. Sacramento pitcher Erwin Maida had a scintillating performance. Maida, now 9-5, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing no runs. Pelu Fa'amasino recorded his 1st save for Sacramento.
The River Cats had to work out of trouble with two out in the top of the seventh. The score was 6-0, Sacramento. But Winnipeg, with the bases loaded, had mounted a threat. Joseph Riggs dug in at the plate. But on a 0-2 sinker, Riggs struck out.
With the win, Sacramento upped its record to 72-61.
