Braves Top Drillers to Even Record
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Mississippi Braves and the Tulsa Drillers, Cade Lang, the first overall pick in the 2065 draft, proved to be the difference. The Mississippi right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Braves win. The third-place Braves go to 54-54.
The Drillers had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Braves going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 23-year old first baseman Jackson Stanley came to the plate. Stanley hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 fastball from Tulsa hurler Lonnie Schmieg. It was Stanley's 8th home run of the year.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Lang. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
